My top 3 albums of 2012

2012 has produced some great musical pieces. Here’s my favourite ones.

1. Aziza Brahim – Mabruk (Reaktion)
A journey into the universe of the Sahwari struggle. Guitars, melancholia, frenzied beats meet to produce 2012’s unexpected gem. Click here for the full review.

Listen to La Tierra Derrama Lágrimas:

2. The Touré-Raichel Collective – The Tel Aviv Session (Cumbancha)
An improvised jam session gives birth to a striking piece of musical exchange. Malian Vieux Farka Touré and Israeli Idan Raichel open their heart to each other and take their own personal music to a brand new level. Click here for the full review.

Listen to Azawade (live):

3. Dead Can Dance – Anastasis (PIAS)
The long waited return of the Australian duo lives up to the hype. They stay true to their unique blend of world influences, gothic vibes and Celtic folklore. I don’t know how but it works great.
